Research Interest:

My laboratory is primarily interested in the neural basis of learning, memory and motivation. We primarily examine behavior in Pavlovian fear conditioning situations, although we use a variety of other behavioral assays. We use antomical manipulations such as focal brain lesions and site-directed pharmacological infusions in rats and gentically modified mice. Having mapped much of the circuitry involved in fear conditioning we are trying to determine the specific roles that various brain regions contribute to behavior. Additionally, we are very interested at how various regions interact to produce the final behavioral output.
