The Voskuhl laboratory is focused on understanding mechanisms in central nervous system inflammation and neurodegeneration. The disease of interest is multiple sclerosis, but other diseases as well that have inflammatory or neurodegenerative components are studied. The goal of the lab is to find novel anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective agents to halt these mechanisms. Thus far, two different agents have each reached clinical trials in MS patients based on basic research done in the Voskuhl lab.
